When working with technology, it is really difficult to predict the outcomes. Sometimes we design the lesson and decide on the tool and then the site has crashed or it is overloaded; it may also happens that the tool requires certain downloading of certain complements and when downloading, our computer crashes or our browsers don't support the downloading or use of certain tools or software.
From the September 1st Chrome has declined certain JAVA policies just to protect you from malware and this is the case for other browsers, too. There are certain steps that can be followed just to sort out this problem; but they are usually hard to follow if you are not familiar with dealing with setting changes. Voxopop needs Java and all its components in order for you to record your voice. Some of those components have been disabled by Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Voxopop is working well with Explorer, Microsoft's browser but maybe you'll need to change some settings, too. So, I've decided to provide you with a new tool so as to not to waste time with different changes in the setting of JAVA. Then, we get together I'll explain how to change settings. It's a pity not to be able to use Voxopop since it's a great tool. But, please, when problems like these take place, re visit the site from time to time since policies are changing all the time.
We are not the only ones having problems with technology and we are just trying to use it in our classrooms. Technology is everywhere so everybody may have problems with it.

Blabberize is a very easy application that allows you to speak through a
picture. Students can manipulate the picture to say what they want it to say.
Teachers have used this resource for quick projects such as having students
retell a story, book reviews, explain a math or science process, create
biographies.

Hi Vero! It's really a pity that we cannot use Voxopop! I found it fascinating! Don't worry about this kind of problems with technology! It happens all the time! Unfortunately this is one disadvantage of using technology...one we have to learn to deal with...It's part of our learning...take it easy
ReplyDeleteThanks, Belén. Anyway I'll try to help you solve this on the 30th when we meet at ISLI
DeleteHi Vero! I'm having some problems with this tool. I chose the picture and then I tried to record my message but when I played it, I only heard strange sounds and not my voice. I also tried to upload an audio from about 30seconds but it said that it could not stand it. I don't know what else to do.
ReplyDeleteThe same happened to me!!! I had to une another computer... Thanks Flor Giusepponi =D
DeleteSorry, Noe. I answered Jime's post via whatsapp and my answer would have been useful to you, too. Sometimes the problem could be the setting of the mic or the browser you are using. By checking the setting or using another browser the problem can be sold. If you had to use another computer then, maybe it was the setting the problem.
DeleteHi Vero.... I have tried to record myself using voxopop... but I couldn't. Let me know if we can sort this problem out. thanks
ReplyDeleteVane, this extension of the second meeting is because there were problems when using Voxopop; so I decided to change that activity with this one, using Blabberize. Don't worry about Voxopop
